Dried Beef Cheese Ball

When I think of a dried beef cheese ball, I think of holidays at my Grandparents.

This appetizer always had a spot at the table and was always something that was instantly devoured.

These days, I make it a little healthier by omitting the MSG and added salt. Don't worry though -- it's still just as flavorful and it won't leave you chugging cups of water in the middle fo the night!

Side note - Why did they put that stuff in there in the first place? It's way more salty than necessary!

But alas, if you had a Southern grandma, this recipe is probably super familiar. It's creamy, cheesy, beefy and just salty enough.

I recommend serving it with ritz crackers or butter crackers for the ultimate old school pairing.

Chipped Beef Cheese Ball

How to make a Cheese Ball with Chipped Beef

Making a dried beef cheese ball is super easy.

To begin, you'll need to thaw out one block of cream cheese to room temperature. I recommend using full fat cream cheese because it's got more flavor and a better texture.

Once the cream cheese is room temp, add it to a large bowl with 1 jar of chopped Armour dried beef (about 2.25 oz). If you can't find that brand, any chipped beef variety will work. Then add 4 thinly chopped green onions, 1 tbsp of worcestershire sauce and ¼ tsp of garlic powder.

Simply mix it together until it's thoroughly incorporated.

Then in a separate bowl, mix together another ½ jar of chopped armor chipped beef and 2 more chopped green onions.

Now either oil your hands or spray them with nonstick spray and shape the cream cheese mixture into a ball.

Next, roll the cheese ball in the green onion and dried beef mixture until it's completed coated.
